The reins for White Lightening, episode two in the Rising Storm series have been handed over to the very capable hands of author Lexi Blake.

With Ginny Moreno continuing with her lie and now living with Celeste and Travis Salt, parents of her deceased friend Jacob. Focus shifts to Dakota Alvarez - daughter of Hector and Joanne. With her father missing, Daddy's girl Dakota is having her own pity party as she also mourns the death of Jacob, the person she hoped to eventually marry creating a one-way ticket out of Storm.

A different author may be writing each new episode and so far the transition has been seamless with Lexi Blake developing the featured protagonists beautifully as well as building the supporting characters, where lies, secrets and gossip are rife within this close knit community.

The men of intrigue are Sebastian Rush and Dillon Murphy. One is a sleazy senator, the other a local sheriff. Both appear to be pole opposites but each very capable of lying and deceit, albeit for differing reasons. Dakota crosses both their paths after illegally drinking the local moonshine White Lightening with very differing results. One is using her to gain points with her Mom, whilst the other sees her as another notch on his bedpost!

This action is a bit slower in this novella but the heat has turned up as lust sizzles just under the surface. This was over way too quickly and wait patiently to dive into episode three of this addictive series; Crosswinds by Elizabeth Naughton.
