What I liked: I thought that the author did a good job showing Mercy's struggle. Her reactions felt very realistic for the trauma she suffered. She was a very likable character and I enjoyed watching her grow throughout the book. Miller was a great hero as well. Alpha but he was wrapped around Mercy's finger from day 1. It was nice to have a story that wasn't so much about 'the chase'.
What I didn't like: Honestly, this story just didn't really hold my attention. The first few chapters grab you because its so brutal but after that, the book just sort of dragged on for me. It didn't really feel all the different from the other military/cop/SEAL books I have read.
Can you read it without having read the other books? Yes
