Fearless by Brigid Kemmerer

Fearless (Elemental, #1.5)

by Brigid Kemmerer

Hunter Garrity is used to watching his back. The kids at school sense something different about him. And they're right.

Hunter has powers that have nothing to do with how hard he can throw a punch.

Maybe that's what Clare Kasten is picking up. She's shy, quiet, and intense, but she's sought him out. There's no telling what she wants from him.

But Hunter knows enough to sense a secret when it's close. And getting close to Clare is a danger he's ready to face...

Fearless takes place before Storm and provides some understanding about Hunter as a character through his backstory.

Hunter, in Fearless, is not as confident or enigmatic. He's younger and more unsure and because of his element, people are drawn to him for better and worse. He deals with bullies and violence on a daily basis and he also learns a lesson from his first experience with romance.

Unfortunately because I read Fearless after Sacrifice, I didn't learn anything new and found the story predictable but, it's interesting to read about Hunter's relationship with his father and uncle.

I enjoy reading the Elemental series novellas because they usually add more information to the characters they're about and the overall series, but unfortunately, I didn't appreciate this novella as much as I hoped I would
