I was excited to continue Lily and Marc's story in this second book of The Mercenaries series. After reading Out Of Plans, the emphasis is more a Lily “coming of age.”-To finishing what she began five years ago...closure and revenge for her sister's death.

Without distraction, Lily and Marcelle have different ways of coping during their separation. Lily is focused and determined to train and improve her skills, if only to prove to herself she's capable of doing whatever she puts her mind to. She tracks down Bentley in Thailand, who agrees to help her. After taking their first joint job in NYC, they work well together as a partnership across the US, honing Lily's skills whilst building her reputation as they go. Eventually they part ways as she flies to Bogota, Colombia, to complete her mission...to put a bullet between Stankovski's eyes.

Marc's focus is distracted as he follows a lead to find his target...the Russian Bratva leader...Anatoly Stankovski. His journey takes him to Moscow and then the Ukraine. There he encounters Roksana Stankovski, who lets slips the intel he needs to find her husband, sending him onwards to Colombia. He's determined to keep his promise to Lily, to justify the toughest decision he'd made for both of them. To keep Lily, his redhead with the stunning green eyes...safe.

When reunited, the sexual chemistry is as explosive as the anger Lily directs towards Marc. Forgiveness isn't a word in her vocabulary and oh boy! she holds a grudge. Lily has changed too, something Marc isn't too pleased about...gone are her smooth edges and curves which training has changed to a sharp, bad-ass attitude and toned muscle. They eventually call a truce, but jealously takes over when the full extent of Bentley's role in Lily's life is uncovered. Marc can see they formed a special, unbreakable bond of trust, attraction and respect. Only it takes time to full comprehend and acknowledge. Surprisingly, Bentley becomes the glue that fixes Marc and Lily's relationship...the voice of reason. He recognises that Marc and Lily's mutual attraction is something special and worth fighting for. Something he's previously had and lost himself...Mai. Something irreplaceable.

I love the dynamics between the three of them once the lines are drawn and everyone knows their rightful place within their team. It takes time but the trust they share in each other is what will keeps them safe, although, like in Africa, all the best laid plans tend to go awry.

Out Of Plans is everything the author says it is and so much more-
“If this NOVEL were a MOVIE, it would have an R rating from the MPAA. Contains: Violence, Grisly Images, Strong Language, Nudity, and Graphic Sexual Content.”
The dialogue is smart, snarky and hilarious, the plot suspenseful, intense and fast paced keeping me captivated by the action the whole time. Fabulous!
