I think that anyone diagnosed with mental illness will benefit from this book, as well as anyone who lives with or loves someone with mental illness. It could even help those who work with individuals who are diagnosed with mental illness as it has incredible insight into the mind of someone with several diagnoses. It encourages compassion and understanding in all who read it.
From diagnosis, Rodney had no idea what to do or to expect with bipolar disorder, schizoaffective disorder, and severe anxiety. He was to the point of being non-verbal. So he takes it upon himself to write letters to his doctor in hopes that it will help him learn how to not only survive, but thrive in his life while suffering the mental disorders he was diagnosed with. He follows doctors orders, even when pills leave him emotionless. He tries to lean on faith alone, but that does not work either. It is the combination of medicine, faith, and self exploration that helps him find the right balance for him.
