The Summer Before Forever is one of the cutest young adult books I have ever read. Despite what happens to Chloe, which could have really brought the book down, instead it’s one of the best summer books I’ve read. I’m even more excited that this is the first in a series – Jenna’s story next? Yes, please. Or even more Chloe and Landon would make me super happy. Either way, Melissa Chambers is the newest author on my to-watch list, because I absolutely enjoyed The Summer Before Forever.

What really makes The Summer Before Forever work is the chemistry between Chloe and Landon. It is off the charts. It is there, right from the very start, and the fact they’re about to become step-brother and sister means little, because it’s not like they grew up together, or even knew each other until they meet that first time. The tension between the two is palpable and it made me flip through the pages at an alarming rate, to see if anything came of it, especially since Landon is like the perfect gentleman. It’s so weird to call a seventeen-year-old a gentleman but he was! He was like the perfect salve for Chloe, after what happened before her summer vacation.

I just loved everything about this book! Chloe’s list, from Jenna, to help her gain confidence, Chloe and Jenna’s friendship which is the greatest thing ever, Landon and Chloe and just EVERYTHING to do with that. It was just the perfect beach read, I lost myself completely in the story, and barely surfaced until I had finished it, with the biggest, biggest smile on my face. I did lots of happy sighs whilst reading and you will, too. You will want your own Landon – and rightly so. *Happy sigh*
