Drag Teen

by Jeffery Self

JT is a gay high school senior determined to get out of Clearwater, Florida, and be the first person in his family to go to college, even though he cannot figure out how to pay for it--until his friends convince him to compete in a drag teen competition where the first prize is a college scholarship.

This was a fun road trip to personal discovery. As with any good road trip, there were mishaps and connections with interesting characters along the way. JT really found out a lot about himself with the help of his two very supportive and encouraging friends and a very fabulous fairy godmother. Maybe the ending was tied up too neatly, but I love that sort of thing. It was nice to see good things come to JT, because I was rooting for him the entire time.
