by Melissa Foster

Trixie Jericho is on a mission to start her own miniature horse business. She’s sick of being told her idea is cute and wants nothing more than to be taken seriously. When rancher and sought-after freestyle horse trainer Nick Braden offers an opportunity she can’t refuse, Trixie jumps on it. The problem is, she also wants to jump on him, but the bullheaded, big-muscled, motorcycle-riding cowboy doesn't mix business with pleasure. Little does he know, Trixie has never backed down from a challenge, especially one she wants more than her next breath. Saddle up, big boy, because this boot-stompin’, risk-taking, Daisy Duke-wearing cowgirl isn’t afraid to play dirty

I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.I have been eagerly awaiting Nick, and Trixie’s story, and Foster did not disappoint. This is the seventh book in the Bradens and Montgomerys: Pleasant Hill- Oak Fall series. Like all the other books in the series, readers can read it as a standalone. All of her books are inter-connected as we see characters from this series and others playing a role in this book.

Hot for Love was a sweet and passionate friend to lover’s romance. Trixie and Nick have known each for sometime now and she has been crushing on him ever since their first meeting. Nick, however, is clueless as to Trixie’s feelings towards him and this made for some serious moments of jealousy on his part. Also, he feared damaging their friendship and so he suffered in silence.

Trixie Jericho has dreams of operating a miniature horse business. However, her family failed to take her seriously and so she turned to the one person who had always believed in her abilities, Nick Braden. In his desire to help her achieve her dreams, he offers her the use of his ranch, which of course would require her to stay with him for a month. Can Nick survive the month or will he throw caution to wind and take their relationship beyond friendship?

Nick and Trixie worked well together, both as friends and as a couple. I had a great time watching Trixie break down Nick’s walls, brick by brick. She challenged him and pushed him to a better version of himself.

Nick struggles with his feelings for Trixie jumped off the pages. He had given upon the idea of love believing it brought only destruction. However, with Trixie he learns that not only does love not destroy it had the power to heal.

I enjoyed watching how their relationship developed from friends to lovers. Every aspect of their relationship felt authentic, which made it easy to buy into their romance.

Foster provided some interesting information regarding miniature horses and their use as a therapy tool. I found these details quite fascinating.

The bonds of family and friendships featured heavily in the story, which is a signature feature of Foster’s stories. The banter and the moments shared were delightful and riddled with emotions.

I had a wonderful time with this latest offering from Foster and would definitely recommend this and the previous books to fans of contemporary romance. I am looking forward to the next book in the series. This review was originally posted on Totally Addicted to Reading
