I'm loving all of these books coming out that look into the sex industry. Drowning in Rapture is all about stripping and live sex shows, which is not for the faint of heart! Jewel does everything with her partner as strangers look on in fascination and arousal. And I liked how Jewel doesn't pretend like she doesn't enjoy her job. Sure, she started out of a desperate need for money, but she likes sex, and she likes feeling sexy, so getting paid for it is like a bonus! It's not like she's out having sex with strangers either, it's only been her best friend until this point. The Ripper (aka Cole) was the first unknown man, but he makes it known that he wants to get to know her outside of work.
Aside from a lot of really hot sex, Drowning in Rapture turns dark and a bit frightening toward the end. Cole seemed a bit suspicious to me from the beginning. I do think one of the twists regarding him was super obvious, but the rest of it? Holy crap! I did not see that coming at all. He and Jewel were starting a relationship, although she originally just wanted to be friends. But then she learns things about him, and then he goes into this epic monologue that just made me uncomfortable. Then I was conflicted, because I loved them together, but now I'm disturbed.
Drowning in Rapture was great! I couldn't put it down, and finished in no time! But now I'm dying to know what comes next!
