I've said it before and I'll say it again: fake relationships turned real are my favorite! Wife for Hire is no different, although the set up is a bit different than what I've read before. Owen needs a wife to help trap the man who conned his sister out of a lot of money. Said man just opened a retreat for troubled married couples, but it doesn't seem legit. Owen settles on Liddy who only applied because she needs to money, but the two hit it off immediately and are soon on their way to save their marriage and avenge Owen's sister.

Wife for Hire was a bit over the top, but I really enjoyed it. I loved the combination of the fake relationship and this kind of minor suspense plot. Of course, Liddy and Owen fall in love during all of this chaos, and it is extremely fast. But I liked how they actually got to know each other a lot. They had to get to know each other before pretending to be a couple, and then the retreat itself forced them to learn more about each other as part of the daily activities. Not to mention there's a lot of harbored lust as they share a bedroom!

The ending of Wife for Hire is very rushed, but that didn't make me like it any less. It's a short read, so no need to drag everything out needlessly. I found the conman's plan to be very clever (and despicable), and he would have gotten away with it if it weren't for that meddling fake couple!
