Not only is Delilah an epic, epic girl – I literally wanted to beg her to be my best friend, I swear but she also has some pretty amazing friends herself. Charlie, first off, is the best friend to end all best friends – they have adventures (that may or may not end in Charlie punching someone), he helps her with the Flywheel, he listens to Delilah when she talks about Rosa, it was just the easiest friendship, ever. Then there’s Lauren, Lucas, Micha, and all the Flywheel regulars who chip in to help Del. There’s this real sense of community, ignoring the fact there’s a competing cafe, they were all just idiots who needed a punch in the face (Hey, Charlie, finally someone for you to punch for good reasons).
But what really made the book for me was Del and Rosa. *Happy sigh* Right from the start, when Del is watching Rosa dance, it just made me feel so happy. It was just so sweet and touching! And then when they get to know each other *More happy sighs*. It really was a bit of a balm for Del, after what had happened previously, with Georgina (and boy did I want her to get some comeuppance) and while Del does kinda push everyone away, I liked that she came to her senses (eventually) and got her friends back, and didn’t irrevocably ruin everything. Get It Together, Delilah! is easily one of my favourite contemporaries. It had everything, INCLUDING caramel milkshakes. It had romance, laughter, friendship, beating the odds, overcoming adversity, all that good stuff that makes a book so unputdownable. You *must* read this book! It was just… everything.
