Nick Parrish faces the death penalty in a torture-murder case. In exchange for life imprisonment, he wants to personally direct police to the isolated grave where he buried another victim four years ago. Reporter Irene Kelly has to go with Parrish and the police team and, from the start, becomes the object of his unnerving attention.
This book won the Edgar in 2000 for Best Novel. I have to admit when I started this book I didn't think that I was going to finish it. Much to my surprise it turned out to be a pretty good read.
