The Bitterroot Inn by Devney Perry

The Bitterroot Inn (Jamison Valley, #5)

by Devney Perry

Her past. His secrets. They have more in common than she knows.

Maisy is happily content with the life she’s built for herself and her young son in small-town Prescott, Montana. Her child is thriving, her business is growing, and her family is as close as they’ve ever been. But when a handsome stranger walks into the lobby of her motel, her simple life is swept up in a wave of affection for his gentle heart. None of those feelings can be trusted, though. She made that mistake before with another man. The man she murdered.

Hunter was a different man when he first saw Maisy Holt from afar. He took one look at her and ran in the opposite direction. But years later, he’s back in Montana and unable to keep his distance. He shouldn’t have tried to find her but he never was good at rejecting temptation. The promise of the good she could bring into his life is too hard to resist. Maybe if he can disguise the lies and hide the deceit, he can keep her from learning the truth. Because his only chance at a future with her is by burying his past.

The best things came after the worst thing...

The Jamison Valley series has been one of the best I've read in a while. It's the comfort of catching up with friends, seeing them change and watching them grow. With each instalment read, I worry that we've reached the end. I don't want it to end and I'm sure there are plenty more love stories that could be told about the Jamison Valley residents.

We met Maisy in the beginning and we've seen her fight for her life, find a new path and create a future for herself and Cody, her son. It hasn't been easy and at times could be quite lonely. She's got great friends and an amazing family, but she would love to find someone to hold her hand and help navigate parenting. One day a man walks in her door and makes her heart flutter.

Hunter has a BIG secret and the woman he plans to love forevermore will probably leave him if she ever found out the truth. The feelings Hunter experiences around Maisy and Cody may be worth the risk, though. If he could just make her fall in love with him, maybe she could learn to forgive him.

I really enjoyed The Bitterroot Inn and I'm glad that Maisy has been given her chance at an HEA. While it was hard to forgive Hunter, it was also hard to hate him for the secrets. He's such a good man...and sexy...and dirty talks with the best.

The storyline kept my attention from start to finish and I never felt like it dragged. The characters were interesting and the connection between Hunter, Maisy and Cody were sweet. I loved that Hunter was in love with Cody as much as he was with Maisy.

I'm a fan and I can't wait for more from this author.
