I can't even express how excited I was to read this book. I fell in love with Chloe Snow last year, when I happened to read her second book, The Year of Living Awkwardly. It made me so happy, that I immediately read (and loved) her first book.
Chloe Snow joins a short list of heroine's, who star in these dairy style books, which I adore. Like Jessica Darling and Ruby Oliver, these books follow Chloe for one year of her life. This book focused on her Junior year, which was filled with a bunch of BIG firsts, a lot of ups and downs, and tremendous personal growth.
I was really elated to see that Chloe's relationship from the end of the prior book was flourishing, and I was just drowning in all that precious first love stuff going on between them. But, while her romantic life was doing well, Chloe's home life was falling apart.
Dad's relationship with Miss Murphy went next level, leaving Chloe as an outsider in her own home. That, combined with her dad's inability to recognize she was growing up, and the return of her sort of emotionally abusive mom, left Chloe a bit adrift. She sort of lost herself and lost sight of the things and people, who were really important to her. I just wanted her to listen to her little voice, as well as Grady's actual voice (because that boy was quite wise for 15/16 year old). Damage was done, but Chloe learned a lot from the experience, and I was proud of the steps she took to correct the situation.
Needless to say, I STILL adore Chloe Snow. She was, as always, honest and amusing and an utter delight. I rode the emotional roller coaster right by her side, and was happy to share the good and bad times with her. It's been a pleasure watching Chloe grow up, and I am crossing my fingers, that I will get to celebrate senior year with her.
