Colonization by Aubrie Dionne

Colonization (Paradise Reclaimed, #1)

by Aubrie Dionne

Finding a new home has never been so dangerous. Andromeda has spent all seventeen years of her life aboard a deep space transport vessel destined for a paradise planet. Her safe cocoon is about to break open as Paradise 21 looms only one month away, and she must take the aptitude tests to determine her role on the new world and her computer assigned life mate. As a great-granddaughter of the Commander of the ship, she wants to live up to her family name. But, her forbidden love for her childhood friend, Sirius, distracts her and she fails the tests.

The results place her in a menial role in the new colony and pair her with Corvus, the oaf. But when Andromeda steps foot on Paradise 21, her predestined future is the least of her worries. Alien ghosts from a failed colonization warn her of a deadly threat to her colony. And when Sirius's ship crashes on the far ridge in an attempt to investigate, she journeys to rescue him with Corvus. Andromeda now must convince the authorities of the imminent danger to protect her new home. What she didn't expect was a battle of her own feelings for Sirius and Corvus.

Can she save the colony and discover her true love?

When I first read the summary for Colonization I got extremely excited because I absolutely love science fiction and I love space. So I found this idea to be very appealing and interesting.

The New Dawn is a space ship that left old earth generations ago in search for a new viable planet to live on. It's destined to land on Paradise 21, a planet covered in forest, that is liveable and has no threats. Well so all the tests thought. Andromeda is a teenage girl that is about to take the exams that assign her to her profession, which she must stick to for the rest of her life, and to her life mate, whom she has no decision in choosing.

Andromeda has never really studied hard, she would rather hang out with her best friend Seth whom she realises she has forbidden feelings for. She is terrified of what life will be like when The New Dawn lands on Paradise 21. All she wants is to live her life she's already living and spend her days with Seth drifting in outer space. Unfortunately for Andromeda that's not how life is to be. She gets assigned a menial job and her lifemate isn't Seth.

When The New Dawn lands on Paradise 21 everyone is ecstatic, except Andromeda. What makes things worse is she starts seeing weird alien beings that no one else can see and no one believes what she's seeing is real.

Colonization is a young adult science fiction book that had me speeding through the pages wanting to find out what happened next, what decision Andromeda made, and wondering if what she was seeing was real. Were there really ghosts? Was she going crazy? Who was going to believe her? I thoroughly enjoyed this book! It had me hooked. It was just the right mix of adventure, action, romance, and science fiction!

I thought the romance was extremely sweet in places. It had me smiling and giggling to myself as I read. The pace was just right, I was always interested in what was going on and I wanted to know what happened next. I found it difficult to put this book down to be honest. Which was okay because I finished it faster that way.

Overall, I really loved this book. It was exciting, entertaining, the romance was sweet and I read this book extremely fast because I was so invested. I thoroughly enjoyed it and couldn't help but be taken along for the ride.

Colonization is an exciting young adult science fiction book with a side of sweet romance. It has you gasping, giggling, smiling and keeps you glued to the pages until you're finished!

I definitely recommend reading this book if you enjoy young adult science fiction romance!
