Deceiving Lies (Forgiving Lies, #2)

by Molly McAdams

The irresistible, blazing-hot sequel to New York Times bestselling author Molly McAdams's Forgiving Lies Rachel is supposed to be planning her wedding to Kash, the love of her life. After the crazy year they've had, she's ready to settle down and live a completely normal life. Well, as normal as it can be. But there's something else waiting-something threatening to tear them apart. Kash is ready for it all with Rachel, especially if "all" includes having a football team of babies with his future wife. In his line of work, Kash knows how short life can be and doesn't want to waste another minute of their life together. But now his past as an undercover narcotics agent has come back to haunt him ...and it's the girl he loves who's caught in the middle. Trent Cruz's orders are clear: take the girl. But there's something about this girl that has him changing the rules and playing a dangerous game to keep her safe. When his time as Rachel's protector runs out, Trent will turn his back on the only life he's known-and risk everything if it means getting her out alive.

You ever watch a TV show and there's that one character that ALL the bad stuff happens to, well that's Rachel. In book 1, she had fallen victim to so many horrible things (especially Blake), and at the end of book 1, MM did it again, she just broke me. Although Rachel keeps getting dealt a crappy hand, there is nothing that can extinguish her fire. You know what they say, the strongest steel goes through the hottest fires, and Rachel is obviously made of some super strong steel. I always liked her character, but who did I love with all my heart during this book? Kash.

The man had to battle with so many different emotions and feelings. He was far from perfect, but he took every opportunity to grow and become a better man, the kind of man who could love Rachel properly and the way she deserved. As always, MMcAdams managed to break my heart in two, but she redeemed herself with those last two chapters. I cannot lie, I almost felt like MM and I were back in that love-hate territory of "Taking Chances", but it was much easier to forgive her with this one. MM -- why do you write these books that get me all twisted up inside!!!! -- sigh--

And, um, we most definitely need a Mason story. I kind of felt like I was left hanging. I know she has more to tell us about him, and who doesn't love Mason? If you were not convinced of his dedicated bromance with Kash before, you will be after this book.

I love you MM. I will always read your books. Thanks for the feels.
