Of course I re-read this while on vacation for a week and of course it’s still the best. Honestly, Phin. My kingdom for the guy who reads.

January 2018 review:

When Crusie goes bent— and by that I mean, when Crusie writes the Dempseys— it’s my new favorite thing. I would not be surprised if by this time next year it’s on my “always reading” shelf beside Split Images and Tishomingo and Lou Berney. The overlap of crime fic and oddball locales and the unconventional love story is my thing.

“We did real well, didn’t we?” Phin said, giving up on detached. “Christ, I haven’t seen a crash-and-burn like this since…” He shook his head at the sky. “I’ve never seen a crash-and-burn like this. We’re good.”
