At first I didn’t really know what to think of Pearl, but the more I read of it the more I find myself enjoying it. Sure, it may not have the strongest plot I’ve ever read, but the writing for it has been sublime, and there are so many subtleties to enjoy here, it’s hard to pass it up. And don’t even get me started on how much I love the artwork!
We knew that things for Pearl were going to come to a head soon. They’ve been alternating between hinting and outright showing us just how precarious of a position Pearl is in - obviously there was no way it was going to stay so carefully balanced. Something had to give.
I love how the story didn’t rush to get to any point – it took it’s time to tell the tale it wanted to, and that was that. The creative team didn’t jump right into the thick of things, instead giving us time to get to know and like the characters. Sometimes that results in a slow start, but it’s totally worth it in the end.
