There's nothing like a nearby crime to bring neighbours together... and when it's a brutal attack on a sweet old ladyinside her own home in a tough Midlands tower block, nobody feels safe. Neighbours are thrown together in their search for answers to the unsolved crime. Misfits and loners, a pregnant alcoholic, a vulnerable boy with learning difficulties, a failed actress and a cameraman with a dark secret are forced to confront uncomfortable realities: truths about themselves, and each other, as their investigation leads them towards the shocking finale.
I enjoyed this one. The first 35% was somewhat slow, but once the characters met and interacted, the pace picked up significantly. I also thought the mystery aspect was well done. I didn't see that ending coming AT ALL. The romance reader in me was hoping for a happily ever after between Ethan and Ella, alas we were just left with a tease of something romantic (maybe). What can you do? (lol) It was still an enjoyable story even without that.
