I've read a fan translation to this one since I love the cdrama.
General thoughts: it's very breezy and fun. No angst or drama or miscommunication.
I find it really interesting though looking at this book and it's drama adaptation vs Gu Man's other adapted work, Shan Shan Come to Eat.
While reading Shan Shan, I was kind of shocked - the book had no drama whatsoever, while the cdrama created love rivals, new characters, conflicts and situation for the characters to deal with. While I really enjoyed both versions, I did prefer the friendships created in the drama vs the book, which really just focused on Shan Shan and Feng Teng.
In the case of Even One Smile is Very Alluring, though, the drama oftentimes copied and pasted entire scenes and conversations from the book. It was very interesting to see how much more fateful this drama was to the original source material. Yes, they added conflicts, beefed up the love rivals and jealousy, etc etc, but on a smaller scale. They even included fan service scenes that did nothing for the plot!
