Of Neptune by Anna Banks

Of Neptune (Syrena Legacy, #3)

by Anna Banks

Emma, who is half human and half Syrena, and her Syrena love, Galen, need time together. Alone. Away from the kingdoms of Poseidon and Triton. Emma's grandfather, the Poseidon king, suggests the two visit a small town called Neptune. Neptune is home to both Syrena and Half Breeds alike. But Emma and Galen didn't sign up to be peacemakers between the ocean and the land-dwelling, freshwater Syrena. They didn't bargain for meeting a charming Half Breed named Reed, who can barely disguise his feelings for Emma. And they especially didn't expect to find themselves in the middle of a power struggle that threatens not only their love, but their ocean kingdoms. In this stunning conclusion to her bestselling Syrena Legacy, Anna Banks thrills fans with more action and romance than ever.

Why am I reading this book? Why didn't I quit the series after the first one. I have no idea. Maybe because the world is almost half sort of interesting. Maybe because they're short and fast reads. But I forget the dual pov alternates, not just between characters but between first person and third (why??!). And I forget how utterly stupid Emma is. I mean stupid and naive and jumps to all the wrong conclusions. She's infuriating at least half the time. And yet I keep reading.

Galen isn't so bad. He makes a few dumb ass moves Like, Reed's been shot! How is the best idea to sit around a picnic table and talk for a bit?. But for the most part he's reasonable and capable and doesn't drive me crazy. I missed Toraf and Rayna in this one. They're fun.

I don't know why I didn't stop when I remembered how dumb Emma is. Maybe because it's the last one and I just wanted to see how it ends. Maybe I just couldn't escape stories that borrow from nautical myths. And as annoyingly immature as so much if it is, I've read worse.
