This was a very good read, heartbreaking at times, but well worth the read. The story follows five survivors of the sixties swoop, all who had spent time in a Catholic residential school in British Columbia. There are times when it is hard to read, knowing that, although this is a fictional work, what the main characters endured in this story was all too real for too many.

When I moved to Canada twenty-six years ago I knew nothing of the horrors described in this story. I feel ashamed that I could come to this country and immediately experience a level of comfort and quality of life that was denied so many for whom this was the country of their birth. These kinds of stories help me to understand and educate myself. Although I can do nothing to change the past, I can do something to make the future different.

This is a book that everyone needs to read. Reading it will bring many different emotions to the forefront, but it is worth it.
