Initial Thoughts

I didn’t know anything about this book going into it. Nothing at all. I saw a few bad reviews but figured I’d make my own opinion.

My New BFF

Oh my gosh Sadie was the funniest character. I especially liked how clueless she was at the start. She didn’t realize anything was different about Rose. I thought she was a great character with a really bubbly personality which made the book really fun while still being fairly serious.

My Crush

I’m crushing on yummy Gabriel. I’m really curious to see what’s happening with him since he seems to have some supernatural aspects. I liked how he knew about Rose but still didn’t believe she was as horrible as everyone was saying. He was very loyal and I found myself appreciating that the farther the book went.

Writing Style

I was actually surprised at how much I liked this plot. It was a little dry at the beginning because I was expecting a pure romance story, but I was glad to see the supernatural aspects and even some drama at the end. It wasn’t an amazing, blow me away kind of plot but I found it enjoyable and I’m actually looking forward to the next one.

Some of the characters could have used a bit more work but most of them were ok to read about. Rose could use some developing which I’m hoping for in the next book.

Closing Thoughts

I enjoyed this book a lot more than I thought I was going to, which is probably why it got a fairly high rating from me. It’s something that was out of my comfort zone so I didn’t have much to compare it to. I still think it was an exciting read, mostly because of Rose’s backstory. That’s what really hooked me in. I think this could be a really good series if the author plays her cards right. We’ll see!
