Lumberjanes is proving to be a light-hearted series with a lot of promise a big focus on acceptance and friendship.

This volume seems to have the same frantic pace the first volume, but it becomes more noticeable here as we move into a bigger portion of the plot line. More weird things are happenings and the girls want to get behind why. As much as I love the crazy mystery of the camp, I am really bummed out with how utterly breakneck this one is. It seems like we find out a weird thing and two pages later we’re done with the mystery. It’s still incredibly fun, but it just makes the issues seems so sort. That being said this is one of the more imaginative comic series I’m reading and nothing puts a sappy smile on my face like this.

The friendships between the girls are just perfection. They each have their own personalities and while some are more vocal or rambunctious they don’t really outshine each other and value everyone’s company. In this, we get to see what each campers strength is, and we some hints as to their pasts and their home lives but there isn’t a lot of time or panel space devoted to any of this, which is kind of unfortunate. I really want to get to know each of these characters better, so I’m hoping the future volumes with lend some focus to that.

I’m definitely going to pick up the next volume, as I’m unsure where this story will go and I have so many questions! Why is the camp so weird?! Why isn’t Rosie telling anyone anything?! Why, Why, Why?! If you enjoy really positive stories with tons of feels, then this one might be worth checking out and it gets bonus points because it would be awesome for kids as well!
