I felt so bad for Penny going through the cycle of constantly being screwed by the men in her life. And it just makes matter worst when she followed her most recent now ex. After that relationship ended horribly, she's left with no man and needs to make a home for herself in a place where she doesn't know anyone. But give it time and she finds her people and finding things of her interest in the area.
And one of her many interests or intrigues is the hot barista at her favorite coffee shop. There's this sexy-mystery to this guy and it was funny to hear Penny's inner dialogue as she constantly tries to figure him out.
One of my favorite thing about this book is that you can relate to the characters, they're just like you and me. And boy that was so refreshing, as much as I love those billionaire characters and all that jazz, I appreciate the normalness. Because hot baristas are totally a thing, don't even deny it! And I actually know a couple of people (my lady friends) that work in a STEM-based field. I'm calling that a win, real people with real problems.
I was hoping for a bit more with the development of the characters, I'm going to work my way through the series and then revisit this book, I don't want to write it off!
