#Nerd by Cambria Hebert

#Nerd (Hashtag, #1)

by Cambria Hebert

Two people from completely different worlds are about to be thrown together…
In more ways than one.

She wants to keep her scholarship. He wants to stay on the team. An awkward alliance doesn’t even begin to cover Rimmel and Romeo’s relationship.

But that’s about to change.

It starts with a dare. An initiation. A challenge.
Quickly, it turns into more. But when you’re a victim of your status, there is no room for anything real. The rules are clear and simple.
Stick to your circle.
And never fall in love with anyone on the outside.

Take a nerdy girl, add one hot jock, mix in a little boyish challenges and you get #Nerd. In this story, Rimmel is assigned to tutor Roman, the star quarterback. Neither are excited, but they each have to do what they have to do. At the same time, Roman (aka Romeo) is trying to gain membership in an elite fraternal organization, the Omegas. Unfortunately, Rimmel gets mixed up in this fraternity business as challenge for Romeo. Uh-oh!

I really enjoyed this book. I found this a fun and entertaining new adult novel. The story wasn't the most ground breaking, but I loved the characters. I really, really fell in love with Rimmel, Romeo and Braeden. Rimmel was called a nerd, but she was not your stereotypical nerd. Hebert gave her a lot a heart, a backbone and a lot of pride. She always held her head high, even when it was difficult. And Romeo, Romeo really impressed me. He had to make some difficult decisions. I loved how both characters evolved during the story. Both Romeo and Rimmel changed for the better and I loved being able to watch them grow. These characters were very real and their relationship seemed the develop organically as opposed to many that seem forced in other similar type novels.

I would be remiss if I did not comment on how much I enjoyed the writing. There was a great flow and good pacing. I picked up this book around lunch time and finished after dinner. The writing and the way the story was laid out, made the reading seem effortless and very enjoyable. There was also a good balance of humor, drama and swoony-romance.

My only complaint, as a member of a greek letter society, was the super negative portrayal of greek groups, but other than that, I enjoyed this book and cannot wait to read #Hater.
