It's been a year since Evvie Drake's husband died, but she still can't leave the house. Her best friend Andy thinks it's because she's grieving, and she does nothing to make him think otherwise.

Dean Tenney was once a sports star. Now he's a former sports star who has lost his ability to throw a ball better than anyone else, and he can't even explain why.

When Dean moves into the apartment at the back of Evvie's house, the two make a deal: Dean won't ask about Evvie's dead husband, and Evvie won't ask about Dean's failed career.

But as Dean and Evvie grow closer, could it be that these rules are the one thing in the way of them starting over?

Cute cover, but surprisingly deep story inside!
Going into it I thought I'd read another cute light romance (even though blurb says otherwise), but ерш is so much more.
I loved characters, I loved self exploration and internal growth, but one thing I thought was unnecessary -romance. Yep, I know, right? This IS romance novel after all, but as title says it's "Evvie Drake", not Evvie Drake and some guy. I think for me there just wasn't enough time, author didn't show us enough of romantic relationship between Evvie and love interest in this book. As friends they were awesome though.
Nevertheless, this book going on my Faves shelf, so my complaints mean nothing. Just don't expect your typical romance from this book. It just so much more. Reminded me of [b:The Bookish Life of Nina Hill|42379022|The Bookish Life of Nina Hill|Abbi Waxman|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1541774944l/42379022._SY75_.jpg|66042198] for some reason (even though they're completely different).
