Truly inspiring read! The work that Stephenson is doing is not just a calling-it is necessary and right. He relates several stories of clients-some he could save and some he couldn't-and each will make you think about the justice system in a new light. Many of his clients are innocent, but many aren't. However, those who aren't innocent were given sentences that were cruel and overly harsh. This is a deep look at various aspects of the legal system that many people don't think about. Someone is guilty, throw them in jail and forget about it. But, Stephenson brings case studies that will make you question how we could do these things to people with mitigating factors that were never introduced. Also, why is it so hard to get a mistake corrected in our system?!?
