Not a fan of this cover. It's generic and boring.

I enjoyed this book but I didn't love it. The writing was fairly good. The plot was interesting. The pace was a bit up and down. I wouldn't say there was really much angst and there wasn't any OW/OM drama. It had some interesting secondary characters. The hero was intriguing but underdeveloped in my opinion, and the heroine was a straight up bitch.

I did have a few issues that caused me to lower my rating somewhat. First, this book was LONG. Incredibly LONG and SLOW. To say this was a slow burn would be an understatement. By the time I hit 60%, I felt that the book was stagnating and I started losing interest. Which had the unfortunate result of making me become nitpicky about little things like the heroine repeatedly saying "she didn't know what date it was or how much time had passed since they have been taken." I just kept thinking why don't you just ASK someone what the damn date is!? Unfortunately, it never picked back up again and just started to feel repetitive and tedious to get through.

I also was sick of the heroines constant negativity and whining about EVERYTHING. Instead of trying to embrace their new life she acted like a bitch and complained nonstop. Three-quarters into a book I expect some movement on the romance front between the hero/heroine and I just wasn't getting any. ONE kiss he forced on her, and that was it. I mean she plans on killing him at 86%! By that time we should already be invested in them as a couple, but they were NEVER even a couple until the last few pages of the book.

I think this one had a lot of potential to be something great; the bones were all there alas there was just too much filler and not enough character development. Heck, I STILL don't even know what exactly Nic does!
