Seal My Destiny tells the story of Luke Paulsen and Julie Christensen. Luke is a navy Seal who suffers from PTSD. Julie is a teacher who wants to be with Luke no matter what. These two had a night of intense passion which left a lasting impression. It was clear from the outset that Luke had secrets which he was not willing to share with Julie. He was not totally honest with her and this came to light when their paths crossed two months later at his sister’s wedding, which also happened to be Julie’s brother’s wedding. Yet, in spite of this Julie wanted to be with Luke.
The premise of the story is good, however, I had difficulty in getting through the story.. I disliked Luke’s treatment of Julie which I thought was sometimes disrespectful. I could not fathom how Julie was so accepting of this treatment. The story dragged at times and I found myself skipping a few pages.
I would have loved to see these two talking more about the issues affecting them, however everytime they got together, it was more about sex and not enough dialogue.
The aside story with the father of one of Julie’s students added a little excitement to the story. However, I would have loved to have learned more about this situation.
Overall, this was an ok read.
