Her fiance jilted Honorine Camden, the oldest daughter of the stationmaster causing quite the scandal. Thinking to keep herself busy she volunteers to assist when she hears her father discussing a party for the station’s employees. Her father places his assistant, Stationmaster Shane MacIntyre, and Honorine in charge of planning the event.

The tale that unfolds delivered a sweet romance set in a small London town that highlights prejudice, preconceived notions, and is loosely based on a historic underground railway accident.

Revezzo has a gift for developing characters, weaving in interesting tidbits from plants to railways and providing a sweet courtship.

I connected with Honorine and felt quite sorry for her even if she’d admonish me for it. I cannot imagine living in an era where a woman is blamed for everything. Townfolk shun her, even though it was her fiancé who did dumped her. Imagine that! Honorine longs to attend college and study botany but needs a recommendation from her ex-’s Aunt. Can she muster up the courage to ask? What about these feelings for Shane? It was all quite interesting.

The courtship between Honorine and Shane our Scot, was quite interesting and faced a few hurdles. The largest being Honorine’s mother. Thankfully, her father admire’s Shane and aided them. We witness growth in both characters as they find themselves, each other and come together to create an event for this town struck by tragedy.

If you are looking for a sweet romance and enjoy historical settings, I think you’ll find Courting the Stationmaster’s Daughter a delightful afternoon read. This review was originally posted at Caffeinated Reviewer
