In a Witch's Wardrobe (Witchcraft Mystery, #4)

by Juliet Blackwell

Lily Ivory is living her dream of owning a vintage clothing store—and practicing magic on the side. But when she encounters a sinister sleeping spell, Lily comes face-to-face with a nightmarish evil...

Taking a night off from running her successful San Francisco clothing store, Lily attends a local art deco ball where vintage fashions steal the show. But when a young woman at the event falls under a mysterious sleeping sickness, Lily senses that a curse was placed on the woman’s corsage.

Before Lily can solve the woman’s magical ailment, she’s asked to assist in investigating a string of poisonings in the Bay Area witchcraft community. She’s gained the trust of the local covens by supporting women’s charities through her clothing store. But soon, Lily suspects that one of her new acquaintances might not be so well intentioned and could be dabbling in dark magic and deadly botany…

In a Witch's Wardrobe by Juliet Blackwell is a continuation of the last book with Lily Ivory attending the Arts Deco Ball in Oakland, California.

Can Lily figure out who cursed Miriam? Along with who could have harmed Tanya, aka Tarra?

Lily Ivory

Lily Ivory is our sleuth, and she's perplexed about her life. Well, the men in her life and if she belongs traversing through the witch's politics. Lily is trying to navigate through areas that she hasn't done before, and she is trying to finish her training. The men in her life are also all very confusing. We have Max Carmichael, who doesn't want anything to do with her because she is a witch, which goes against everything he knows. Next up, we have Aidan Rhodes, who is a lot older than her, and he toys with her emotions. Lastly, we have Sailor, a psychic who is reluctant to be around Lily since he doesn't like witches. Then we have her pet, familiar Oscar, who's torn about who his master is, Lily or Aidan.

The Mystery

Lily went to the Art Deco Ball and met a woman there who had a curse put on her. She wants to investigate this whole thing but is asked by local Inspector Carlos Romero to help him out by asking questions about Tarra, the recently deceased. So now Lily has to put her investigation of Miriam on hold to do this as she's digging though it seems like the two might be connected after all. I had no clue who could have killed Tarra or put the curse on Miriam. Part of me was blaming a red herring, but then I couldn't help but think it doesn't make sense for that person to have done it.
