Prey by L V Lane

Prey (Omega Prey, #1)

by L.V. Lane

I am prey.
This is not pity talking, this is an acknowledgment of a fact.
I am small and weak; I am an Omega. I am a prize that men war over.
For a year I have hidden in the distant corner of the Empire.
But I am running out of food, and I am running out of options.
That I must leave soon is not a decision for today, though, but a decision for tomorrow.
Only tomorrow's choices never come.
For tonight brings strangers who remind me that I am prey.

Publisher's Note: Prey is a fantasy paranormal romance with three stern Alphas, an Alpha wolf-shifter, and a stubborn Omega prey. It includes smoking hot sexual situations and spankings.

A 'Don't read in public-you might wet your seat!' danger sign should be on this book cover!

4.5 STARS!
And that is because I'm holding half a star back due to what I think was a too anti-climatic end fight with our main bad guy - Oswald.

I am a huuuuge fan of [a:L.V. Lane|19017663|L.V. Lane|https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1600686465p2/19017663.jpg] - and her 'Controllers' Series is one of my absolute favourites Omegaverse of all time.

This author always brings her A-Game, and her world building and writing is a pleasure to read. Her books are easy to read, without feeling too simple. The content is always thrilling and I never feel like there is "too much info/description". All in all - she does a fab job of giving us perfect pages filled with heartwarming, sexy, panty wetting content. She is truly one of my favs.

Now, I was lucky enough to get my ARC copy of [b:Prey|53351591|Prey (Omega Prey, #1)|L.V. Lane|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1588976882l/53351591._SY75_.jpg|82187880] before release by being an ARC reader, but my review is completely my own personal views on the book. :)

Prey is set in the Omegaverse and is a 'Reverse Harem' book, though the ending teases us with more, and in good ole Lane style, she leaves us with easter eggs during the book, which opens up for more books to follow ( I hope!). This is a F/M/M/M/M book (yes, that many!) - and the Omega is the female. 3 Which is great, because that is my favourite - though my introduction to reading a book containing a Male Omega was also one of hers - which is called [b:Absolute Control|52755306|Absolute Control (The Controllers, #7)|L.V. Lane|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1585375138l/52755306._SY75_.jpg|75851850] - check it out if you haven't!

Belle is a poor Omega with a strong will, a strong mind, and refuses to give up. She's also full of love and those she gives her heart to - will count themselves blessed by the Goddess herself.
Belle lives alone on her rickety farm and is trying to survive, but sadly that isn't going too well due to more bad luck than Friday 13.

Being part of the Imperial Guard, the brothers Silas, Dax & Nate are on a mission to track down the main bad guy in our story - Oswald. He's quite the character - the little we know of him, and his men are little more than savaged beasts battering the countryside, raping - pillaging and murdering innocent civilians. Safe to say - we are hoping our dear Alphas find him!

The world is set in sort of Medival time - that's the feeling I get. We have banquets, we have the horses, the farms, the land and that is the sort of feel I get. A medieval type of world. I really liked this - but then Lane has never been shortcoming when it comes to inventing her worlds, and this book does not share the very common trope of Dystopian world that was once riddled with some form of illness or virus to make the new Dynamics. Not that I don't like that - but it's always nice with a change. :)

This book does not have Alphaholes, there is discipline (spanking, belting) - but none of the main Alphas in this book are abusing Belle.

There is, however, a few trigger scenes, one is some torture - and this being Omegaverse, we do touch on dubious consent or what I like to call "you might be saying no, but I can change your mind" type.
So if you are not a big fan of these categories - this book might not be for you. :)

I mentioned at the beginning of this review - that I give it 4,5 stars and the half is missing because of the main big fight in the end. This is simply because I felt it was a bit rushed, I felt like we didn't really get to see or meet Oswald at all - we only heard about him from start to finish - we met his men, and there were some really super fighting scenes (Lane do these very well in all her books!) where I am def. being pulled into the story and feel as if I'm a part of it.

But... I felt that the end was too anti-climatic compared to all the buildup I felt it had. Harsh, but that's just how I feel.

Apart from that this book is jaw-dropping sexy and you might blush in this very sexy menage - our brother's def. put a nice spin on gang bang. ;)

All in all - this is a great addition to the Omegaverse world and I highly recommend it to anyone who is a fan of the universe!
