A Lady Never Lies by Juliana Gray

A Lady Never Lies (Berkley Sensation Historical Romance) (Affairs by Moonlight Trilogy, #1)

by Juliana Gray

Lady Alexandra Morley, an alluring widow, is desperate to devise a plan to reverse her fortunes. When fate lands her in the arms of  Phineas "Finn" Burke, an attractive inventor, she despairs of ever getting what she needs...until they kiss.

Finn has always been impervious to the charms of the female species, intent only on perfecting his "horseless carriage" engine. He never dreamed he'd meet a woman like Alexandra, who is as stubborn as she is comely. Despite the brewing scandal, Finn longs to make Alexandra his wife, but he must first convince the maddening lady that their love is the only thing that matters.

After a somewhat disappointing run of books, I put off reading. It wasn't a slump, exactly, just a desire not to pick up another meh book. That's where Renae came in. I poked and prodded until she gave me a couple recommendations of good historical romance. And she didn't let me down!

Ahh, this was a rather fun setup. Alexandra, her sister, and her cousin lease an Italian villa. Finn and two of his friends unknowingly lease the same Italian villa. Both groups are intent on spending the year without influence of the opposite sex. And it all unravels from there.

Though I'm not sure, I think all the stories in this series happen at the same time, but each couple gets its own book. Which makes me anxious to get my hands on the other books (especially Abigail and Wallingford's book, because the goose down incident was particularly amusing as was one other...).

Not gonna lie, I'm a sucker for the logical and smart man who turns into a speechless mess around his lady love. And that's precisely what happens to Finn. But once he knows what he wants, he's not afraid to go after it---nor afraid of embracing his feelings. Always a plus. Alexandra got on my nerves a bit, but it wasn't enough to distract from the book.

And the historical romance bender continues!
