What I liked: If you haven't read book 1, don't read this review! You get to know Jaime in this one. Why is he in prison? What was life like in prison for him? What happened to him when he got out? It was great to see Jaime's point of view long before Erica even entered the picture. It was a really honest portrayal as well. The book talks about his depression both during and after incarceration and the struggles he had with readjusting to life outside prison. It was very honest and realistic. I love prison documentaries so this was right up my alley.
So, what didn't I like? I wanted more about what happens with him and Erica. However, you get an epilogue to explain it, but I would have rather had at least 1/2 the book focused on their relationship after prison. This book wasn't so much a continuation of the previous book, but a parallel with an epilogue. I wanted something more. I would have been happy if this book were 1000 pages, ya know? It just wasn't enough for me!
Overall, still a great book and will go down as one of my favorite series because of its uniqueness. Such a great story about choices and chances in life!
