Alpha Divided by Aileen Erin

Alpha Divided (Alpha Girl, #3)

by Aileen Erin

Life has been crazy since Tessa McCaide moved to Texas. She’s gone from being a normal-ish girl with visions to a super-powered werewolf. She’s fought off vampires and broken a nearly unbreakable curse. And she’s got a hot mate, Dastien Laurent, to keep her busy.

Things are looking up until the full moon ceremony rolls around. Before Tessa can strengthen her bond with Dastien, the local coven crashes the gates, demanding that Tessa—their heir apparent—be returned. If the pack wants to avoid a war with the witches, handing Tessa over is the only option.

Tessa doesn’t want to cause an all-out fight, but joining a dark-magic coven isn’t on her to-do list, especially if embracing her magic side means parting with Dastien. When the coven leader tries to control Tessa with dark-magic, Tessa realizes she has to dismantle the coven or prepare the pack for war. Either choice will change her life—and her world—forever.

This series just got intense! Alpha Divided picks up two days after the ending of Avoiding Alpha. Tessa is celebrating her birthday with friends and family, but she also has her mating ceremony that night. Of course, it has to be interrupted, throwing a wrench in the wolves' plan to have Tessa and Dastien officially mated before their tribunal. The interruption is by none other than, Luciana, head of the local witches coven, because she wants Tessa. To avoid a war, the pack and Tessa agree to one month where Tessa will live at the compound and learn about her magic. One month is one month too long in enemy territory.

I totally expected Luciana to pull something dirty in Alpha Divided. I highly suspected she'd do something underhanded to cause Tessa to flee before her time was up, but still be able to play the victim and then start that war that she desperately wants. Well, I did not expect her to do what she did! That is just straight up dark and evil! But I really liked how Luciana wasn't a stereotypical villain who is blind to everything except for their plan. Things happen and it gives the wolves more time. How much time is anyone's guess though.

I am really enjoying this series so far and Alpha Divided was no exception! I love learning about Tessa's abilities along side with her. Some of them feel like a curse rather than a gift, but that's just because she doesn't know exactly how they work or how to control them (if she even can). The romance is getting a bit steamier, too! Of course, with all of this talk and planning on a mating ceremony, other types of mating have to be discussed; if you catch my meaning. But I'll have to wait to see how that all plays out, since Bruja is going to be about Claudia's epic adventure!
