Most definitely a novella, this book skimmed the surface of what could have been. I liked the characters, though I was slightly distracted by the names and their similarities to the show, Ripper Street (which I adore). I picked this up for free from Amazon to try out a new author, though I'm not sure it sparked enough to make me try a full length novel.
