I mean, Tangled Vows definitely has the tropes of category romance down: the billionaire ice queen engaging in a marriage of convenience with a (former) escort. It would have been more fun if the writing hadn't been so stilted and emotionless. Secondary characters are completely interchangeable, very little actually happens except some sex stuff. It featured my least favourite romance trope ever: overcoming sexual abuse through the magical sex powers of the new partner. The former abuse basically gets 'solved' within one scene (that barely had any emotional impact in itself because we see very little of the emotions of the main characters) in a way that I found rather offensive.

Ruby had an abusive ex who constantly overstepped her boundaries. This trauma is 'fixed' by... her new squeeze fulfilling her fantasy. The fantasy isn't particularly interesting either (it's honestly rather tame considering how much of a deal is made of it); she has an orgasm and! Ta dah! Trauma gone.

Colour me unimpressed.

Not sure this author is for me.
