I can't tell if I liked this book more than the others in the series because it was actually better or because I'd just finished the latest Pretty Little Liars book and it was better than that.

Sara Shepard has really mailed it in with PLL; they're formulaic and boring. The Lying Game series is beginning to get on the predictable side, but there were enough twists in the latest offering that I'm still reasonably interested. The structure of each book is the same, and it's obvious that whoever Emma and Sutton think killed Sutton is going to be revealed to be innocent, through conveniently simultaneous flashbacks on Sutton's part and detective work on Emma's, but Shepard throws in enough twists that I'm not completely bored reading like I have been with the last few PLL books.

As always, the writing is mediocre, the characters are undeveloped, and all the references to music and brands are painful, but I think this is the strongest book in the series.
