I must confess the first thing that caught my eye was the cover followed by the title. As a result, I was quite enthused to read this book. Based on the cover and the title I honestly thought that this would be a story about werewolves and being a fan of the genre I was ready to jump in with both feet. However, when I started to get into the story I realised that this was not what I was expecting. It had absolutely nothing to do with werewolves so you can imagine my disappointment. Well my disappointment was fleeting as In A Wolf's Eye took me on a fantastic an exhilarating journey. It may not have been what I expected, but it sure surpassed my expectations. In A Wolf's Eyes reminded me of the importance of never judging a book by its cover, it's what lies between the covers that is important.

In a Wolf's Eyes was told from two POVs. Some readers may find this a bit confusing, but for me it helped me to better able to relate to the main characters thoughts and feelings.

In this epic story we meet Raine aka Wolf, a slave and a formidable gladiator and Ly'Tana, warrior princess of Kel'Halla who is betrothed to crown prince Broughton aka Brutal of Khalid. Brutal is a very fitting name for the prince as I am sure you will agree with me after reading this book.

This an entertaining, funny and engaging read about love, jealousy, betrayal, friendship and the quest for power. It's filled with action, which at times was quite violent and bloody, suspense and adventure. There were a lot of twists and turns and some unexpected turn of events which had me on the edge of my seat. The story drew me in from the very first line and it became difficult for me to put it down as I could not wait to see what was going to happen next.

The characters were engaging. My favourite is Wolf. He is intelligent and a natural leader. My least favourite is Brutal. He is evil to the bone, but I guess that is what is expected of a villain.

The story is very detailed as it it provides enough information for readers to picture what is really taking place.

Overall, I enjoyed this story and I am looking forward to read the next book in the series as the ending has left me wanting more.
