A few things keep me from flailing all over these books:

1. The characters hold onto "We can't be together" beliefs until a point where I lose patience.

2. The characters hold back their secrets for part of the book, and the reveal is never explosive as I want it to be.

3. I'm not a fan of all the big words. They feel right for the times, but more than once I had to search out the definition of a word, and that drew me out of the book, every time.

I do enjoy the Windham family, though.
