If you’ve seen and enjoyed Overboard (1987) with Kurt Russell and Goldie Hawn or Overboard (2018) with Anna Faris and Eugenio Derbez, you will love this novel. This version is gender bent from the original movie but with its’ own quirks and twists that you’ll fall in love with.

Daniel Rutherford, the Earl of Stannis, is a naughty playboy. He throws a lavish party on his yacht to celebrate the birthday of his mistress. While his passion for said mistress has been waning, she invites two friends to join her in the earl’s bed. When he mistakes the fantastic chef he’d hired for the three-day cruise, Georgianna Heyford, for one of the additional ladies, he sweeps her into passionate kisses before she can make a peep. Once all is revealed, the mistress wants Georgianna gone and fakes a food illness. Georgie is sacked and while Daniel is upset about kicking her off the boat at the time, he still does it. Before he can rectify the situation, he lands himself in the water with a bump to his head and no memory. The doctor who treats Daniel happens to be Georgie’s cousin and she scoops him up as her new husband after he recalls their passionate kiss.

Georgie is the eldest of four girls and is responsible for them and a crumbling country manor after their mother and father died. The job working on the Earl’s yacht was to be her big break and take care of them for a year. Once Daniel lands in her lap, she puts him to work, which he takes on with gusto and a little help from the younger sisters. I loved that Georgie is never malicious in her “punishment” of the earl. She cares for him almost from the very start and her two youngest sisters look up to their new brother-in-law as a hero.

While we do get that HEA, the way Reid leads us there is very different from either movie. I was ecstatic when twists I never saw coming appeared. The growth over the entire experience of both Daniel and Georgie is breathtaking. Get ready to laugh, cry, and fall in love with the adventures of Daniel and Georgie. I promise, you won’t regret it.

I received An Earl to Remember (Unforgettable Love #2) for free. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.
