Dominic was staring at me like he couldn’t decide whether he loathed me or wanted to French kiss me.

Dominic

I got her fired. Okay, so I’d had a bad day and took it out on a bystander in a pizza shop. But there’s nothing demure about Ally Morales. She proves that her first day of her new job…which just happens to be in my office….And I can’t fire her, because it’s my mother the CEO who hired her…technically, Ally doesn’t work for me, and she makes it clear she doesn’t have to listen to me either.

So maybe her colorful, annoying, inexplicably alluring personality brightens up the magazine’s offices that have felt like a prison for the past year. Maybe I like that she argues with me in front of the editorial staff. And maybe my after-hours fantasies are haunted by those brown eyes and that sharp tongue.

But that doesn’t mean that I’m going to be the next Russo man to take advantage of his position. I might be a second-generation asshole, but I am not my father.

She’s working herself to death at half a dozen dead-end jobs for some secret reason she doesn’t feel like sharing with me. And I’m going to fix it all. Don’t accuse me of caring. She’s nothing more than a puzzle to be solved. If I can get her to quit working here, I can finally peel away all those layers. Then I can go back to salvaging the family name and forget all about the dancing, beer-slinging brunette.

Ally

Ha! Hold my beer, Charming.

Only a little Grumpy

I always feel like a twit when I get sucked into thinking that EVERYTHING IS DOOMED! I mean, it's not like I've just started reading romance. Reading romance has been a part of my life for donkeys years. Still, I get choked up, then a little angry, and then I start the process of figuring out a way back to happy, happy, joy, joy. For 2.5 seconds I thought Ally and Dom were doomed...and my 16-year-old son copped it. Because, of course, it was all Dom's fault, and my son walked into my room... is male...

I'm kidding, kind of.

I absolutely loved By a Thread and finished it with a big and goofy smile on my face. This story made me laugh, frown, squirm and sigh. All of my emotions were involved and I loved every minute of the journey. This was also an extremely sexy story. The instant attraction was something that both Ally and Dom fought... until they couldn't deny that their attraction to each other wasn't going away. When they do eventually connect, it was fireworks. SO HOT!

Lucy Score is a fantastic storyteller and I love that it's not just the main characters you get attached to. Each additional character was someone I could connect with and was important to the storyline. It's funny, every time I meet a new character in Lucy's stories, I'm convinced I've met them before. I think it's because I'm questioning how I could love a character so quickly and they're not even the main.

If you haven't tried a Lucy Score story you are truly missing out. I definitely recommend giving By a Thread a try.
