Sophie Roberts is the woman who has been on Brett Bad's radar for a long time. She works for his brother Mick, so their paths cross often. Despite her attraction for her boss's brother, she's constantly rejected his propositions over the years because she wants more, not less from him. That's until temptation is just too great.

Despite his notorious womanising reputation, this charming man is burdened with memories from the past, shaping the man he is now. You feel his apprehension as his feelings take over and struggle to manage his own expectations and those of the woman he's falling for. Melissa manages to capture Brett's awkwardness as he navigates the uncharted waters called a relationship. For a normally self-assured, successful man he finally finds the courage to open his heart to an idea and woman; a happy ever after he never dreamed or thought possible.

Brett and Sophie compliment each other perfectly. The physical attraction has always been there, but Sophie manages to nurture Brett into making him confront his past threatening to blight his future, whilst she maintains her own levels of expectation. With a large crowd of supporting characters urging them on, the ending is satisfying an oh so romantic.

This novel, like all written by Ms Foster, can be read as standalone, but I if you are new to this series, I strongly recommend you also read Brett's brothers' stories too.
