I received this book for free from Obsidian in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.
The cover is kind of cartoony, but don't let that chase you off. I was sucked into this story from the first pages. And I haven't read anything by this author before.
I liked a lot of the characters, especially Abby and Marco. But I also liked reading about Jillian, and Francesca. I didn't really like Mitzi or Rosa. Mitzi just irked me, she was totally one of those women who don't mind lying to put themselves in the best light possible. She also had no issues with seducing married men. And Rosa was colored from Abby's point of view, but it would have annoyed me if someone was taking over like that in my job. So it was easy to be on Abby's side!
There were a lot of funny moments in the book. And I liked how there were side mysteries as well as the main one. I had a few ideas on who the killer was, but when the reveal came I found I was completely wrong. I also liked reading about the flower shop, and 'seeing' a few of the designs Abby came up with.
I think the plotline around Rosa was a little too easily patched up at the end, considering how much it bothered Abby during the book. And how Rosa finally found out that it was bothering Abby. But that's my only quibble, everything else fell out well. Including the home for Kitty, though that was fairly obvious early on!
I'll be looking for the next book in this series when it comes out, and recommend you try this one if you haven't already!
