Last Light Falling: The Covenant is a dystopian novel with an unusual twist. The story is taken from the Book of Revelations - well, sort of. This is not a Christian book by any means, and if you were to start reading it believing that, you'd soon see that there is harsh language in the book that clearly prevents it from being a Christian book.

The year is 2053 and the world is in a shambles. Israel is now the enemy of the United States. The state of the United States is a sad one, with the federal government taking over everything - there is no state or local government anymore. The government controls the media and it is becoming clearer with each passing day that the United States, and indeed the world, are heading for imminent destruction. So when twins Arena and Gabriel turn fifteen and are informed that they are God's chosen ones to exact his wrath upon the Earth, they do what any sensible fifteen year olds do - they balk a bit and get down to business.

I love the characters in this book. I love Arena and Gabriel (Gabe). I love Finnegan. I love Henry. I even love Juliana. They're all so well thought out and well written, that it's hard not to love them. But be forewarned, not all of your favorites may make it out alive, so have a box of tissues handy. You might want it from the start, since some of the backstory will cause you to need those tissues as well.

I love how this isn't your run of the mill dystopian society. I love dystopian societies, and I know that all of them come with some government shenanigans that are the root cause of all the people's problems. But this one is so much more than that, because it brings the end times and the wrath of God into the picture.

While I really like it, I give it 4 stars because frankly, even though it's a great concept and I love the characters, there are some parts that just really drag on. I literally found myself trying to find out how much longer I had to read before the book was over during one of the more boring parts.

If you like The Hunger Games, Divergent, or even the Left Behind series (and don't mind some crude language, the f-bomb is dropped a few times, but not often) - you'll like the Last Light Falling series.
