Savage Beauty is a story about escaping a background of alcoholism and abuse and finding one's way in the world. The narrative style makes our protagonist relatable and keeps the reader engaged as we travel from England to Israel in search of spiritual enlightenment. The change in setting was somewhat abrupt and the redeeming powers of life in a kibbutz aren't entirely convincing, but the relationship issues examined are interesting and the reader feels for our heroine. The biggest drawbacks in this book are formatting issues and insufficient proofreading rather than structural errors, but hopefully these oversights will be addressed in future editions.
