I'll keep this storyline as simplified as possible without giving any spoilers.
I did like the story and the characters, but it was very slow moving, yet things happened so quickly. I'm sure that makes no sense, I'll do my best to explain.
girl + guy + steamy sex + prophecy fullfilled + guy leaves + girl becomes pregnant = one hot mess!
We have beautiful Alexa Ryan, she's living a very content life with a little extra "something" on the side. All it took was a night out, meeting a pretty amazing person named Ethan Kellar, who also has a little extra "something". I know I'm being very vague, but I really don't know how else to phrase it! When Ethan was a child, a seer prophesied his role in certain events that would end a centuries old war of his people. Knowing that, he decides to leave Alexa in order to protect her from this prophecy that has been set into motion, but in reality he was just running away. Which left Alexa with an extremely broken heart and a growing child in her womb, Chloe.
After some time, Chloe begins to be "colicky" and heads to the doctor to figure out what's going on. And she slowly starts to witness some odd things and begins to piece things together. And it's not long after that things about her life, Chloe and Ethan's come to light.
The whole relationship between Alexa and Ethan began and ended too quick, and she was very easy to forgive. I guess you could say that I compared myself to her, if I went through with what she did with my man friend, I would not be so forgiving. That boy better earn my dang forgiveness!
For the most part, I did enjoy this story,however, I did think it was a little twilight-esque at moments. There is a cliffhanger at the end, but thankfully I'm at a pretty calm place about it AND we won't have to wait too long for the next one.
