Jonas by K F Breene

Jonas (Darkness, #7)

by K.F. Breene

Jonas isn't the kind of guy to submit to the expectations of others, even when his life is on the line. So when he wakes up in the cell of a dungeon with torture devices hanging on the wall, he can only think one thing: this should be fun. What he didn't expect, however, is the beautiful but broken female pitting herself against his resolve. For once, the pain of his past is shallow in comparison to another, and he wants nothing more than to extinguish her pain.

When Sasha realizes one of her own has been taken, the gloves come off. Using her ever-expanding resources of both human and non-human magic workers, she sets out to battle the most advanced, most experienced magic worker in the world. Regardless of being completely outmatched, Sasha and Stefan rush to Jonas' aid.

Still loving this series...

This one took me a little out of my comfort zone, not enough to make me put it down but not something I would actively go looking for.

Jonas is the mean one who treats everyone with contempt, except Stefan his boss and friend. As the series developed we get to know Jonas and see his loyalty and his need to protect his family. At the end of the last installment Jonas has been kidnapped and Sasha and the gang must find him.

Now to the bit that was uncomfortable...we learn that Jonas enjoys pain administered to him. He actively seeks out sexual partners to give him the pain he needs to balance his desire for violence. He uses his desire for it to help him survive the torture of his imprisonment.

We are introduced to Emmy his torturer. At first she is just there to do her job of getting information out of Jonas, but then we learn her reasons why she must do it. She is half human half vampire being held and controlled by a powerful Mage looking to take over the Council.

I found it interesting to see a strong man like Jonas hand over his control when seeking pain and the power and confidence given to Emmy when she holds the whip.

Lots of drama and fighting with laughs and steamy bits to keep my interest.

Another excellent installment to the Darkness series. Keep them coming Ms Breene.
