Ever since my earliest days of babysitting I have enjoyed the memory of reading [b:Bonsoir Lune|516733|Bonsoir Lune|Margaret Wise Brown|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1347809601s/516733.jpg|1086867] and of course the English version of [b:Goodnight Moon|232381|Goodnight Moon|Margaret Wise Brown|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1348029220s/232381.jpg|1086867] is a treasure as well. So now to get my hands on a board book version of a bilingual [b:Goodnight Moon/Buenas Noches, Luna|22103885|Goodnight Moon/Buenas Noches, Luna|Margaret Wise Brown|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1401075034s/22103885.jpg|1086867] is very exciting for me. While we read most things in the English language, I do from time to time enjoy introducing my children to French and Spanish as well.

Goodnight Moon is probably one of the first books I thought of and bought when I started to get books for my oldest daughter as an infant. We bought a boardbook and at less than thrree years later it was in pretty rough shape. You should see it now, five years later. It is a favorite. We even as big sister gifts and for "school" at 2 1/2 got her Goodnight Moon 123: A Counting Book and Goodnight Moon ABC: An Alphabet Book. These were requested just yesterday by the three year old 'baby', on repeat. As we were reading, that same once toddler, now at five years old climbed on the couch to read along. The excitement is that now SHE CAN read them.

Tonight when we started to explore in our new HarperCollins Treasury of Picture Book Classics and she Goodnight Moon was an option it was an instant request.

The yellow, orange, red and brilliant green are never colors I would have picked but they work so well with this book. The alternating grey pages add a character and conversation piece too. From finding the mouse on each page to relating to "her mittens" or something else familiar this little book finds its way as being a friend. Well known and dear. I wonder how many copies will we end up going through before childhood is at an end.

Buenas Noches, Luna has both the English text and the Spanish text on each page. The English text is black and the Spanish text grey. One could read through in either language, or alternate and even use the little board board book to teach the matching bilingual words and phrases. It is exciting that other Margaret Wise Brown books are available in Spanish to reach more readers, but for my family it is exciting to have this first bilingual board book edition to enrich the education as well as entertainment in my children. We would doubtfully read a solely Spanish version, but already we've spent time with the bilingual edition and are enjoying the challenge for our native English speaking family greatly.
